Welcome to the Disastronomers website.Â
Deep-sky astrophotography from Bortle 6 skies, with nebulae and galaxies captured through integrations of up to 100 hours
We are two French amateur astronomers based in Graz, Austria, united by a shared passion for astronomy, astrophotography and scientific observation.
What began as a fascination with the beauty of the night sky has gradually evolved into a deeper commitment to citizen science and Pro-Am (Professional-Amateur) collaborations. Today, alongside our astrophotography projects, we actively contribute to scientific observing programs and share our experience with professional astronomers and astrophysicists on selected research initiatives.
Among our activities, we participate in the ExoClock program, contributing observations of exoplanet transits in support of the international scientific community. We are also involved in collaborative discussions with professional observatories and researchers in Austria and France.
Our robotic observatory operates from a heavily light-polluted urban environment only a few kilometres from the centre of Graz. Despite these challenging conditions, we pursue ambitious imaging projects that often require tens or even hundreds of hours of integration time to reveal the faint structures hidden within galaxies, nebulae and other deep-sky objects.
As our experience grows, scientific collaboration has become an important source of motivation. We believe that modern amateur observatories can make meaningful contributions to astronomical research and help bridge the gap between passion and science.
At the same time, we strongly believe that astronomy should remain accessible to everyone. Whether you are an experienced observer, a researcher, or simply someone curious about the Universe, we enjoy sharing our passion, explaining complex concepts in an approachable way, and helping newcomers discover the wonders of the night sky.
Disastronomers is therefore more than an astrophotography website. It is a place where curiosity, scientific collaboration and public outreach meet under the same stars.
Clear skies!
